Dan Frank Kuehn constructed and inhabited his first yurts in the early nineteen seventies in Taos, New Mexico. Inspired by the flourishing alternative life-style scene, Dan began to explore how this ancient Mongolian structure might be adapted to a life of voluntary simplicity in the northern hemisphere. In 1980, Dan wrote, illustrated and self-published MONGOLIAN CLOUD HOUSES. Beat poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti gave a title to the charming, grass-roots manual on sustainable living.
Now, thirty years later, Shelter Publications has released a new, completely revised and updated version of the counter-culture classic.
MONGOLIAN CLOUD HOUSES: How to Make a Yurt and Live Comfortably went on sale May 1st. With the encouragement of his editors at Shelter, Dan has extensively updated and expanded the scope of the book, adding many new illustrations. With clear, easy-to-follow directions and delightful drawings, this guide offers a romantic yet practical introduction to the ancient, elegant, nomadic dwelling.
